AFCON: How we caused 3-2 defeat to Nigeria – Tunisia’s Yan Valery

Tunisia defender Yan Valery has explained how his team managed to defeat Nigeria 3–2 in their recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match. According to Valery, the Tunisian team went into the game with a clear plan and strong belief that they could challenge the Super Eagles, even though Nigeria were seen as favourites before kickoff.

Valery said Tunisia focused on pressing Nigeria early, cutting off their passing lanes, and forcing mistakes in dangerous areas. He noted that the team studied Nigeria’s style of play and prepared for their speed and physical strength by staying compact and disciplined at the back while attacking quickly on the counter.

He added that Tunisia’s unity and mental strength also played a big role in the victory. Even when Nigeria scored and tried to mount a comeback, the Tunisian players stayed calm and followed their tactical instructions instead of panicking.

Valery praised his teammates and the coaching crew for their preparation and teamwork, saying the win was the result of collective effort, not individual brilliance. He also admitted that Nigeria remain a strong team and that every match at AFCON is tough, but Tunisia earned the victory through hard work and smart planning.
