‘My political journey miracle’ – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described his political career as a miracle, saying only God could have made his rise possible. Jonathan made the statement on Friday while speaking at the 60th birthday book launch of his former aide, Dr. Reuben Abati.

Jonathan explained that his journey into power was beyond ordinary, noting that he climbed through Nigeria’s political ranks faster than many people ever imagined. He recalled moving from deputy governor to governor, then becoming vice-president, and later president — all within a short period. According to him, this rapid elevation is clear evidence of divine intervention.

He thanked Dr. Abati for documenting his story in one of the books titled How Goodluck Jonathan Became President. Jonathan praised Abati’s intelligence and writing talent, saying it is often difficult for public figures to write their own stories. Having someone else record his political history, he said, makes it even more meaningful.

Jonathan added that he looks forward to reading the detailed account of how he rose to Nigeria’s highest office, describing the book as a valuable contribution to political history. He emphasized the importance of documenting leadership journeys, saying future generations can learn from them.

Jonathan’s reflection has sparked renewed conversation about his calm leadership style and unexpected rise, which many Nigerians still regard as unusual in the nation’s political landscape.
