Former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has cleared the air on speculations about a rift between him and the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. Kwankwaso said there is no conflict or misunderstanding between him and the governor, stressing that Yusuf is fully in charge of the state’s affairs.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists, Kwankwaso described the reports of a disagreement as baseless and politically motivated. He explained that his role as a political mentor does not interfere with Governor Yusuf’s leadership or administrative responsibilities. According to him, the NNPP operates on a strong foundation of unity and discipline, which guides all party members in carrying out their duties.
Kwankwaso emphasized that Governor Yusuf has his full support, noting that the administration is focused on delivering meaningful development projects to the people of Kano State. He praised the governor for his commitment to education, healthcare, and infrastructure, which align with the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
He also warned those spreading false stories of division to desist, saying such claims are attempts by political opponents to create unnecessary tension in the state. Kwankwaso maintained that both he and the governor remain united in their mission to uplift the lives of Kano citizens through transparent governance.
The former governor concluded by urging residents to continue supporting the NNPP-led government, assuring them that the synergy between him and Governor Yusuf will continue to produce positive results for the state.
