Former presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has officially announced his intention to contest for the presidency again in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television, Adebayo revealed that he had already informed his party of his decision and that members of the SDP were aware of his renewed ambition. He emphasized his commitment to building a stronger and more inclusive party ahead of the polls.

“I have informed my party, the SDP, that I will be running for the presidency again in 2027, and everyone in my party knows that I’m contesting again,” Adebayo said. “I’m working with the party to strengthen it, bring in more people, and improve our internal processes to handle challenges and ensure we don’t disappoint Nigerians.”

Adebayo further noted that his campaign would focus on real issues affecting Nigerians rather than superficial politics. He stressed the importance of confronting both internal and external challenges directly instead of pretending they don’t exist. “The best prayer that can be offered is for the road to be rough because when your road is rough, you will appreciate the destination when you get there,” he added.

The SDP chieftain reaffirmed his belief in transparency, accountability, and practical leadership as key principles that can move Nigeria forward. He expressed optimism that his experience from the 2023 elections would help him and his party prepare better for 2027.
