Popular Nigerian skitmaker and musician, Lawal Nasiru, better known as Nasboi, has revealed that he identifies as both a Muslim and a Christian. The entertainer made this known in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he spoke about how his upbringing influenced his views on religion and tribalism.
Nasboi explained that his father is a Yoruba Muslim, while his mother is a Christian from Warri, a background that shaped his open-mindedness. He added that being born and raised in Port Harcourt and later studying at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, exposed him to different cultures and made it impossible for him to discriminate based on religion or tribe.
Sharing his thoughts, Nasboi wrote: “My papa Yoruba, my mama Warri. My papa Muslim, my mama Christian. I was born and raised in Port Harcourt. I studied at the University of Uyo. This is why I can never relate to tribalism or all the religious agendas.”
When a fan asked about his religion, the comedian responded humorously, saying he is “Christmus” — a blend of Christian and Muslim. This response stirred conversations online, with some people praising his tolerance while others accused him of being confused about his faith.
Despite the mixed reactions, Nasboi’s statement reflects a growing sentiment among Nigerians who advocate for religious unity and mutual respect. Many fans applauded him for promoting love and understanding in a country often divided by faith and ethnicity.
