The Presidency has declared that no Nigerian politician currently has the political structure or national influence to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The statement was made by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, during an interactive session with over 100 pro-Tinubu support groups in Abuja.
Bwala explained that the meeting, themed “Meet and Greet with the Spokesman,” aimed to strengthen communication between the Presidency and its nationwide grassroots supporters. He commended the various support groups for their loyalty before and after the 2023 elections, emphasizing that their continued involvement is vital in promoting the government’s programs and achievements.
According to Bwala, President Tinubu’s administration is entering a phase of “recovery and consolidation” after implementing major reforms in the economy and public sector. He said the government’s policies are beginning to yield results, even though the full impact will take time. “We have moved from renewed hope to recovery, and Nigerians are starting to see changes in critical sectors,” he noted.
When asked about potential challengers in the 2027 elections, Bwala confidently stated that no opposition politician currently possesses Tinubu’s political weight or nationwide reach. He described the President as a leader with deep grassroots support and unmatched experience in navigating Nigeria’s political terrain. “At this moment, there is no politician in Nigeria who can confront President Tinubu’s political capacity,” he declared.
The Abuja meeting had representatives from all six geopolitical zones and even delegates from the UK, showing the President’s broad base of support. Bwala concluded by saying that these groups are not just for elections but are long-term partners in nation-building, ensuring that Tinubu’s reforms continue to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and governance.
