2027: I’m Willing To Step Aside If Younger Aspirant Wins ADC Primary – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he is open to stepping aside in the 2027 presidential race if a younger aspirant emerges victorious at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary. Atiku noted that his priority is the growth of democracy and the unity of the country, stressing that leadership should not be about age but about competence, vision, and the will to serve the people.

He explained that his years of experience in politics and governance have been dedicated to building a stronger Nigeria, but if younger candidates prove capable and win the party’s confidence, he would gladly support them. Atiku emphasized that democracy thrives when fair competition is allowed, and that his commitment to national interest remains above personal ambition.

The former Vice President also urged political parties to focus on internal democracy, saying that Nigeria’s progress depends on giving space for new ideas and younger voices. His statement has sparked conversations about generational leadership and the readiness of Nigeria’s youth to take up greater political responsibility in 2027.
