Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has explained that Ademola Lookman must prove he really wants to play for the club before he can return fully to the team.
Lookman had tried to force a move to Inter Milan this summer by handing in a transfer request.
The winger stayed in England and trained alone while waiting for the deal to go through, only returning to Italy after Inter decided not to continue with the transfer.
He was left out of Atalanta’s squad that defeated Lecce over the weekend, and coach Ivan Juric has already suggested he is unlikely to feature against Paris Saint-Germain in their next Champions League game.
Percassi made it clear that while Lookman is an important player, Atalanta’s rule is simple—the club only wants players who are ready to give their full effort and remain completely focused on the team’s goals.
