Former Barcelona forward, Martin Braithwaite, has shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s exit from the club.
Braithwaite said the Argentina star should not have left Barcelona in the way he did.
He also expressed hope that Messi would one day return to Barcelona to end his career there.
Messi left the Spanish giants in 2021 as a free agent because the club could not renew his contract.
The 38-year-old, now playing for Inter Miami, first moved to Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barcelona.
Speaking with GE, as reported by Sportskeeda, Braithwaite recalled how unexpected the situation was. He said: “It was strange because everyone thought he would sign a new deal, and then suddenly, he was gone.”
He described Messi as a humble and kind person who always made teammates feel at ease. Braithwaite added that Messi’s football ability speaks for itself.
The Danish striker concluded by saying: “Messi didn’t deserve to leave like that. I really hope he can play his last game at Barcelona because that’s what he truly deserve”.
