Fubara: Rivers begins transition to democratic governance

The Rivers State Government has said it is starting the process of moving from emergency rule to democratic governance.

As part of the activities, a special interdenominational thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday at the Ecumenical Centre, Abonima Wharf Road, Port Harcourt.

In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, invited key stakeholders to attend the event.

The thanksgiving service is scheduled for 10 a.m., and all guests are expected to arrive by 9:30 a.m.

Those invited include permanent secretaries, local government chairmen, heads of security and paramilitary agencies, traditional rulers, members of boards and governing councils, and business leaders.

The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ibas, will attend the thanksgiving as the Special Guest of Honour.

The government’s statement explained that the thanksgiving service is part of activities lined up to welcome the state’s full return to democratic government.
