The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s goal for the state has been successfully achieved.
Ibas made this statement while presenting the report of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) on the recently concluded local government election.
He explained that Tinubu’s instruction was clear — to restore peace, rebuild democratic systems, and bring stability back to Rivers State.
Speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, Ibas confirmed that the peaceful conduct of the local government polls and the swearing-in of new council chairmen and councillors in all 23 local government areas were signs that the directive had been carried out.
On March 18, 2025, President Tinubu had declared a six-month emergency rule in Rivers State to prevent a major political crisis from escalating.
This declaration resulted in the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the state’s National Assembly.
