Peter Obi takes a break from public functions to attend to his health

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has decided to take a short break from public engagements to focus on his health. On his X account, he shared that his doctor advised him to rest after he started feeling unwell during his recent travels.

After speaking at a tourism event in Enugu, Obi visited Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State, which is being acquired by the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria. He contributed ₦10 million to support the acquisition and revitalization of the hospital.

Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, chair of the hospital board, guided him through the facility and explained the ambitious plans to transform it into a comprehensive health complex.

Obi highlighted the importance of investing in healthcare, noting that faith-based organizations can deliver excellent services when given the right support.

He commended the Diocese’s vision to develop the hospital into a full health center with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology, ensuring future generations have access to quality care and training.

Following his visit to Isulo, Obi traveled to Owerri to attend a dinner hosted by Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honor of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. However, after feeling unwell in Enugu and visiting the hospital for treatment, Obi was advised by his doctor to rest for a day or two.

In line with this advice, Obi announced that he will not be able to attend all scheduled engagements this weekend, both within and outside Nigeria, and asked the public for understanding regarding any inconvenience caused.
