The captain of Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles, Junior Nduka, has promised that the team will fight hard to avoid ending their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with another defeat.
Nigeria’s hopes of progressing in the tournament ended after back-to-back losses to Senegal and Sudan in their opening games.
The team is yet to score a single goal in the championship and has already conceded five times, leaving them bottom of the group.
The Super Eagles will face Congo in their final group-stage clash at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the game, Nduka assured fans that the players are determined to deliver a victory.
“We need to win for Nigeria. We’ll give everything against Congo. The two losses were painful, but we must recover and finish strong,” the defender told CAFonline.
Kick-off is scheduled for 6 pm Nigerian time.
