The Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has instructed Ibom Air to withdraw all criminal charges against Comfort Emmanson.
Keyamo said the Police will speed up the process to ensure she is released from Kirikiri Prison before the week ends.
The Minister also directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month.
He made the announcement in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, noting that the decisions came after consultations with key figures in the aviation sector and those directly involved in the incidents.
Keyamo explained that everyone has learned important lessons from the events.
For VALUEJET’s Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba, the NCAA will reinstate their licenses after a one-month suspension, provided they complete a mandatory professional reassessment.
The Minister stressed that the government and airlines acted purely out of compassion and will not bow to political pressure or biased views when laws are clearly broken.
