A joint team of security forces has rescued three kidnapped victims after exchanging gunfire with the abductors in Shanga Hills, Kebbi State.
The victims—Muhammad Nasamu Namata (25), Gide Namata (20), and Hamidu Alhaji Namani (35)—were taken from Sangara village during an early morning raid on July 27, 2025.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the rescue took place on July 31 and involved officers from the police, Nigerian Army, NSCDC, as well as local vigilantes and hunters. The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Shanga.
The security team followed the kidnappers to Shanga Hills, where they engaged them in a fierce gun battle. Outgunned, the kidnappers fled with suspected injuries, leaving the victims behind.
The three men were rescued unharmed at around 3:30 pm and are now receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the team for their bravery and urged all security agencies to maintain strong cooperation.
He also called on residents to stay alert and report any unusual activity to security operatives.
