The Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, have rejected a recent statement by the Police Service Commission (PSC), calling it false and misleading.

On July 31, 2025, the PSC, through its spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, claimed that it was not involved in the advert for the 12th Regular Course Degree Programme. The commission said the announcement was made without proper approval.

According to the PSC, the application window, which runs from July 28 to September 8, 2025, goes against established procedures. It also argued that only the PSC has the legal right to appoint individuals into the Nigeria Police Force, a claim supported by rulings from the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

In response, the Ministry of Police Affairs released a statement through its Director of Information and Public Relations, Bolaji Kazeem, confirming that the application process remains valid and ongoing.

The ministry said that the admission process is being conducted according to the rules of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs. It insisted that the PSC has no constitutional role in university admissions.

Describing the PSC’s disclaimer as “legally baseless and misleading,” the ministry urged the public and applicants to ignore the statement and proceed with the application as planned.

The online portal for the Police Academy’s 12th Regular Course Degree Programme remains open to applicants.
