Nigerian music star Omawumi has shut down a claim made by fellow singer Timaya about an alleged studio incident involving Burna Boy.
In an earlier interview, Timaya said a younger Burna Boy once asked Omawumi and Waje to leave the studio after they didn’t believe in his dream of flying in private jets.

Speaking recently in an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Omawumi said the story was completely false.
She said it never happened and expressed deep disappointment over being mentioned in such a way.

Omawumi explained that she values respect in the music industry and has always avoided tearing down her colleagues.
She was particularly upset that Timaya, who she has known for years, would use her name to boost a story about someone else.

She said even though she knows personal things about Timaya, she has never brought them to the public just to gain attention.
According to her, Burna Boy himself has always shown nothing but respect whenever they meet and has never said anything like what Timaya claimed.

Omawumi believes Timaya only mentioned her to attract attention, knowing that negative news tends to spread faster than positive ones.
She expressed concern that his false story could affect her image, which she has carefully built over nearly two decades.

For clarity, she added that the only time she, Waje, Burna Boy, and Timaya were together was back in 2010 at Waje’s recording session.
Omawumi said she left early because it was late, and no argument or disrespect ever occurred.

She ended by saying that no matter how harmless Timaya’s words may seem, the incident he described never happened and that he had no right to involve her in the first place.
