To honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Katsina State Government has announced that Monday, July 14, will be a public holiday. This decision was made to give citizens time to grieve the passing of the ex-leader, who died on Sunday evening, July 13, at a hospital in the United Kingdom.
Abdullahi Garba Faskari, the Secretary to the State Government, shared the announcement with the public.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda sent his heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and all Nigerians. He praised Buhari as a strong leader, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder who gave his life to the service of the country.
Governor Radda also offered prayers for Buhari’s soul, asking God to forgive his mistakes, reward his good deeds, and grant him a place in Paradise (Aljannatul Firdaus).
Buhari’s body is expected to arrive in Nigeria today and will be laid to rest in Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, according to Islamic traditions.
