I’ll support Tinubu if he removes religious, ethnic prerogatives in Nigeria – Sam Amadi

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has said he is ready to support President Bola Tinubu if he takes strong action to remove religious and ethnic favoritism in Nigeria. Amadi made the statement on X on Monday, stressing that such attitudes are dangerous and hold the country back.

According to him, Nigeria will continue to struggle with development and peace if leaders and citizens remain controlled by religious and ethnic interests. He described these tendencies as “neo-feudal and theocratic prerogatives,” saying they must be eliminated for the nation to move forward.

Amadi’s comment comes amid global attention on Nigeria’s religious tensions. Recently, former US President Donald Trump listed Nigeria as a country of particular concern and threatened military action if attacks on Christians are not addressed. The Federal Government has rejected claims of religious persecution, insisting that no group is being targeted.

Amadi’s stance focuses on unity and fairness, noting that he would support any leader — even President Tinubu — who genuinely works to remove religious and ethnic barriers from governance and society.
