Two football teams have officially left the 2025 Club World Cup after losing their recent matches on Friday.
The first team to be eliminated was the Seattle Sounders. They lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid, coached by Diego Simeone, bounced back after losing 4-0 to PSG. They played better against the Sounders and earned a solid win.
Pablo Barrios scored twice for Atletico, while Axel Witsel added another goal to seal the victory.
Although Seattle Sounders got a goal from Albert Rusnák, it wasn’t enough. This was their second loss in a row, which means they are now out of the tournament.
Auckland City, another team in the competition, has also been knocked out.
The team from New Zealand suffered a huge 10-0 loss to Bayern Munich. This result is one of the worst in Club World Cup history.
Earlier on Friday, Auckland also lost 5-0 to Benfica. In total, they’ve let in 15 goals in just two games and haven’t scored even once.
Both teams will now head home, while the rest continue to battle for the Club World Cup title.
