BREAKING: NNPCL spokesperson, Soneye resigns, gives reason

Olufemi Soneye, the spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has officially resigned from his position.

He announced his decision through a statement shared with DAILY POST on Saturday, revealing that he has stepped down from his role as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL.

Soneye explained that his reason for leaving is personal. He wants to spend more time with his family and handle some personal matters that now need his full attention.

Soneye was appointed to the position in August 2021 and served for about 20 months.

In a farewell message to his colleagues, he expressed deep appreciation for the support and teamwork he received while working at NNPCL. He thanked them for helping to share the company’s story and for their role in growing the organisation’s communication efforts.

He emphasized that stepping aside from his role will give him the chance to concentrate more on his personal life. He also said that it was an honour to serve both the company and the country, and he was grateful for the trust placed in him.

Even though he is leaving the company, Soneye said he will always support NNPCL and urged his colleagues to keep reporting responsibly to support the company’s goals and Nigeria’s energy future.

He ended his note by thanking everyone once again for their support and kindness throughout his time at NNPCL.
