Nigerian footballer Leon Balogun has completed a move to Cypriot club Aris Limassol. The announcement was shared by the club and reported by DAILY POST. He joined the team on a free transfer.
The experienced 36-year-old defender signed a one-year deal with Aris Limassol, who are also called the Light Brigade.
Balogun became a free agent after his contract with Scottish side Rangers ended last month. The club decided not to renew it.
He had two separate periods at Rangers. His first stay at the club lasted from 2020 to 2022.
During that time, he helped the team win both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup.
Balogun later returned to Rangers and stayed for two more years. Last season, he was part of the team that won the Scottish League Cup.
At his new club, Aris Limassol, he will reconnect with Connor Goldson, who also played with him at Rangers.
Aris Limassol have only won the league in Cyprus once in their history. They will be playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League in the coming season.
