Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has reacted to his team’s 1-0 loss to Botafogo in the Club World Cup. He said that whenever teams face PSG, they always play with extra energy and motivation.
This defeat came as a surprise to many because PSG had not lost any match since May 3. Their unbeaten streak across all competitions ended with this match.
The only goal of the game came in the 36th minute. Igor Jesus received a long ball, controlled it well, and managed to score by getting the ball past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Although PSG had more chances to score, they were not accurate. They finished the game with 16 shot attempts, but only two were on target. In contrast, Botafogo had only four shots, but all of them were on target.
After the match, Luis Enrique said that PSG finds it difficult when facing teams that defend well. He said Botafogo is one of the strongest defensive teams in the competition and made it very hard for PSG to play their usual game.
Enrique also praised Botafogo for how well they played together. He said that the whole team defended and attacked as one, and that kind of teamwork is important when competing against top clubs like PSG.
