Pastor Tunde Bakare denies seeking personal gain in meeting with Tinubu

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the head of the Citadel Global Community Church, has spoken about his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu. He told the public that his visit was not about getting anything for himself or chasing political power.

The meeting took place on June 4 at Tinubu’s home in Lagos. It sparked reactions online, with many people wondering what the real reason behind the visit was—especially since Bakare once ran in the 2023 APC presidential primaries.

Speaking during a sermon at his church, Bakare made it clear that he was not trying to get a position in government. He said he had no interest in personal rewards or favours from Tinubu’s administration.

Bakare also addressed those accusing him of trying to “settle” himself. He said, “Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?”

His message to the public was simple: he has nothing to gain from the meeting and has no hidden motive.
