The head of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Abdul Khalifa Ibrahim, has said that Kaduna State is safer now than it used to be. Kaduna is where the NDA is located. Although security has improved, he said there is still more work to do to make the area fully safe.
He explained that “we are not yet at the level we want to reach.” This means they are making progress, but their goal has not been reached yet.
Major General Ibrahim said this during a visit from the leaders of the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). The journalists came to the NDA for a meeting.
He described journalists as important guardians of the community. He asked them to help inform people about why it is important to report any suspicious behavior to the security forces. He said the NDA and NUJ are working together for the good of society.
The Major General also said the NDA is preparing to launch a security helpline soon. This helpline will help respond to problems quickly. Even though the NDA is not a security agency, its senior officers have experience in keeping people safe.
He said he is proud to say Kaduna has become much safer in the last few months. But he reminded everyone that they still have work to do to reach their security goals. He encouraged everyone to work together to build a better and safer Nigeria. He pointed out that many Nigerians living abroad want to come back home soon, so it is important to make the country a place they can be proud of.
