A sad event happened this year on Arafat Day when a pilgrim from Bauchi State, Abdullahi Adamu, died while standing and praying on the holy grounds of Mount Arafat.
Adamu came from Ganjuwa Local Government Area and was part of the Bauchi State group visiting Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board confirmed his death and sent their deepest sympathy to his family and the people of Ganjuwa.
They said Adamu passed away during one of the most important religious moments of the Hajj, while he was deeply involved in prayer.
All the proper steps were taken according to Islamic customs and Saudi Hajj rules to handle the situation respectfully and correctly.
The Board also mentioned they are keeping in touch with his family to offer support and provide regular updates.
Fellow pilgrims remembered Adamu as a devoted and humble man who spent his final moments worshipping among millions of other faithful Muslims.
Imam Abdulrahman Idris, the head of the Bauchi Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, said, “This is a very sad loss for his family and all pilgrims from Bauchi. To pass away on Arafat Day while praying and in Ihram is seen in Islam as a very honorable and blessed way to go.”
This tragic loss reminds us of the deep spiritual meaning of the Hajj and the honor found in sincere devotion during this sacred pilgrimage.
