Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has warned the club that he might leave if they don’t reduce the number of players in the team.
Guardiola spoke on Wednesday, May 21, saying that he doesn’t want to manage a large group of players. He said it feels wrong to have footballers on the team who hardly get to play. According to him, it’s not fair to bring in players just to keep them sitting on the bench or leave them out of matches completely.
This season has been difficult for Manchester City. Last weekend, they lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace in a surprising result. Because of this, City will end the season without winning any major trophies.
However, there is still hope for something positive. Manchester City are still fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League. On Tuesday, they beat Bournemouth 3-1, which helped them move closer to qualifying.
At the moment, City have 68 points. This puts them slightly ahead of Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa, who all have 66 points. Nottingham Forest are just one point behind. If City win their last game against Fulham, they will secure third place. Even a draw might be enough because they have a better goal difference than their rivals.
