A recent video of former militant leader, Tompolo, being sprayed with money at an event has caught the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Over the weekend, the video went viral on social media. It showed people at a party throwing money on Tompolo while he walked and danced around. Many Nigerians began calling on the EFCC to arrest him, saying the act was a public show of wealth that should be questioned.
In response, the EFCC posted a message on social media this morning. The agency reminded everyone that “nobody is above the law” and stated that Tompolo may have to answer some questions regarding the incident.
The EFCC’s comment shows that public displays of money, even by powerful or well-known individuals, could be investigated. The agency made it clear that it is watching and will act when necessary.
