Ikenne, Abeokuta to host Super Falcons, Cameroon friendlies

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Falcons will play two friendly matches against the women’s national team of Cameroon. These matches will be held at stadiums in Ikenne and Abeokuta, both in Ogun State.

The first match will take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on Saturday, May 31. It will be an important test for the Super Falcons as they prepare for a big tournament.

The second friendly will be played at the newly renovated MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta. The improved stadium is now ready to host international games.

These two games are part of the Super Falcons’ preparation for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which is one of the biggest competitions in African women’s football.

The Super Falcons last played a match in December 2023 when they faced France’s national team, known as Les Bleues. That game gave the Nigerian team good experience.

At WAFCON 2024, the Super Falcons will compete in Group B. They will play against Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria in the group stage.

This year’s WAFCON will be hosted by Morocco and will begin on July 5, 2025. The tournament will bring together the best women’s football teams from across Africa.
