Europa League: Nico Williams responds to Bruno Fernandes’ claims

After the Europa League semi-final first leg match between Manchester United and Athletic Club, there has been some talk about a red card incident. Manchester United won the match 3-0 in Spain, thanks to two goals from Bruno Fernandes and one from Casemiro.

During the first half, Athletic Club’s Daniel Vivian was shown a red card for a foul on Rasmus Hojlund inside the box. Bruno Fernandes then scored a penalty. After the match, Fernandes supported the referee’s decision, saying the red card was fair. He even argued with a journalist who questioned it.

When Nico Williams, winger for Athletic Club, was asked about Fernandes’ comments, he didn’t want to create more drama. Speaking to DAZN, Williams said, “I saw what he said… In the end, everyone is free to think what they want. We are going to play it cool as always, without getting into controversy… and may the best team win.”

The second leg of the semi-final will be held next Thursday at Old Trafford.
