Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has congratulated Liverpool after they ended City’s four-year run as Premier League champions.
Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, led the team to the title in his first season, after taking over from Jurgen Klopp. The Reds secured the trophy by beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at a lively Anfield.
Guardiola had guided City to Premier League titles in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Last season, they battled hard with Arsenal to win. But this time, City struggled and are currently in fourth place.
After City’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final, Guardiola showed great sportsmanship by sending a message to Liverpool.
He said, “Before we start, I want to congratulate Liverpool on winning the Premier League. They deserved it — they are a fantastic team. Hopefully, next season we can do better and compete until the very end. Congratulations to Liverpool.”
