In a big political change, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move is expected to bring major changes to politics in the state.

According to Arise TV, the switch was confirmed on Wednesday after a private meeting at the Government House in Asaba. The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the decision came after a lot of discussions with key political figures. He also said it was done in the best interest of Delta State’s future.

Governor Oborevwori, who won the 2023 election as a PDP candidate, was warmly welcomed by top APC leaders. Many political experts think this change is a smart move ahead of the 2027 general elections. It may also affect politics in the entire South-South region.
