Colombian President Gustavo Petro recently shared that he can no longer travel to the United States because his visa was taken away. He said, “I can’t go anymore because I think they took away my visa.” Even though he didn’t need a visa before, he joked about the situation by calling Donald Trump “Donald Duck,” saying he would find other things to see instead.
This comment comes after tensions grew between the two leaders. Earlier this year, Trump warned Colombia of consequences after the country didn’t allow US flights carrying migrants to land. In response, the US reportedly banned travel, placed tariffs, and canceled visas for Colombian officials. These actions were later reversed when Colombia agreed to accept the flights.
President Petro’s nickname for Trump shows just how strained their relationship has become.
