UPDATE: One Person Confirmed Dead, 12 Others Rescued In Lagos Building Collapse

A sad event happened in Lagos when a three-storey building collapsed at 10 Oremeta Street, Ojodu. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that one person died and 12 others were rescued from the rubble.

The building had a restaurant called Equal Right Restaurant and was also used by families and customers. It suddenly collapsed on Saturday morning. NEMA said they got emergency calls at around 8:32 AM and quickly sent rescue teams to the scene.

Many emergency groups responded, including the police, fire service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and NEMA. They all worked together to search for people trapped inside.

So far, 12 people have been rescued alive, including restaurant workers, customers, and a family living there. Sadly, one adult was found dead.

Officials are still trying to find out why the building collapsed. The area is now under control as rescue work continues.

“We are approaching the situation systematically, using heavy-duty and light-duty equipment to get to ground zero.

“We have credible information that more people are still under the rubble, so we are moving from one layer to the next, carefully checking for any survivors before proceeding,”
 he had said.
