Falana Seeks Immediate Sack Of Ibok-Ete Ibas Over Breach Of Presidential Order

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has called for the immediate removal of Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State. Falana argues that Ibas has violated constitutional rules and ignored President Bola Tinubu’s instructions, according to a report by News360 Nigeria.

In a statement given to Vanguard, Falana pointed to the official government document that sets out how the Sole Administrator should operate. The document states that Ibas’ role should follow specific regulations issued by the President. However, Falana pointed out that President Tinubu has not given any such regulations.

Despite this, Ibas has continued to make changes in the state government, including appointing and removing officials previously appointed by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Falana called this behavior illegal, saying that by ignoring the President’s orders, Ibas has made his position even more unlawful.

Falana has urged the Federal Government to remove Ibas from his post immediately. This call comes amid a larger political crisis in Rivers State, where there are ongoing debates about the power struggle between the state and federal government.
