Famous Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar has died at the age of 87 in Mumbai, India. He was being treated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where Dr. Santosh Shetty confirmed that Kumar passed away due to age-related health problems.
His son, Kunal Goswami, also told ANI news agency that Kumar had been unwell for some time.
Manoj Kumar was known for his patriotic movies and became a major star during the 1960s and 1970s. He was born as Harikrishan Goswami in 1937 in Punjab. Some of his most famous films include Shaheed, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and Kranti.
In honor of his outstanding work in Indian cinema, Kumar was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award – the highest film award in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his respects on X (formerly Twitter), calling Kumar an “icon of Indian cinema.” He said that Manoj Kumar’s work sparked national pride and will keep inspiring people in the future.
