Trump reacts as two Republicans win Florida special elections

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has congratulated Republicans Jimmy Patronis and Randy Fine on their victories in Florida’s special elections. The two candidates won their respective races on Tuesday, securing seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Patronis defeated Democrat Gay Valimont in the 1st District, despite being outspent during the campaign. He will take over the seat previously held by Matt Gaetz. Meanwhile, Randy Fine won in the 6th District against Democratic challenger Josh Weil. He replaces Mike Waltz, who now serves as Trump’s national security adviser.

With these victories, Republicans have strengthened their majority in the House, now holding a 220-213 advantage over Democrats.

Trump celebrated the wins on his Truth Social account, emphasizing the power of his endorsement.

He posted: “Both Florida House seats have been won big by the Republican candidates. The Trump endorsement, as always, proved far greater than the Democrats’ forces of evil. Congratulations to America!”

He specifically praised the winners, saying, “Jimmy Patronis wins big! Congratulations, Jimmy.” and “Congratulations Randy, a great win against a massive cash avalanche.”

These victories reinforce Trump’s influence in the Republican Party as the 2024 elections approach.
