Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has advised intending pilgrims from Lagos State to take care of their health before traveling for the 2025 Hajj.
Speaking at the Eid-el-Fitr celebration held at the Lagos House, Marina, the governor stressed the need for good health before embarking on the sacred journey.
“The Hajj pilgrimage will begin in May. I urge everyone traveling to ensure they are in good health. If you are sick, it is better to stay back and pray here in Nigeria,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also congratulated Muslims on completing Ramadan and thanked them for their dedication to spiritual growth. He encouraged everyone to continue showing kindness, especially to the less privileged, during the celebrations.
“As we celebrate, let’s remember that true worship is not just about rituals but also about how we treat one another. We must support the progress of our state and country. Let’s keep our faith strong and continue to pray for Nigeria,” he added.
The guest speaker, Dr. Munirudeen Ar-Riyardy from Lagos State University of Education, spoke about the importance of faith during tough times. He also advised Nigerians to avoid cursing their leaders and to stay on the right path.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat urged Lagos residents to be kind and understanding towards others. “Show compassion to your neighbors and trust in God’s grace,” he said.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, encouraged Muslims to follow the principles of Islam and promote peace, unity, and goodwill in their communities.
