Chelsea have suffered another injury setback as midfielder Romeo Lavia picks up a fresh problem before their Premier League game against Tottenham on Thursday.
Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Lavia will not be available for the match at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old had been making progress in his recovery but suffered a setback in training. Speaking to the media, Maresca said (via Athletic): “He was doing better, but unfortunately, one or two days ago, he had a small problem, so we will see in the next hours.”
Lavia joined Chelsea from Southampton in the summer of 2023 but has struggled with injuries, limiting his time on the pitch. This latest setback adds to his ongoing fitness challenges at the club. Chelsea fans will be hoping he recovers soon and can finally make an impact in the team.
