Alleged fraud: Court postpones arraignment of Mercy Chinwo’s ex-manager

A Federal High Court in Lagos has delayed the arraignment of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The judge postponed the case due to an ongoing administrative process.

Onyedikachukwu and his company, Eezee Tee, are facing serious accusations. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged him with money laundering and dishonest conversion of $340,000.

At the hearing, EFCC’s prosecutor, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, was present. The defense team, led by Mr. Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, and Dr. Monday Ubani, also appeared in court. Both sides were prepared to move forward with the case.

However, Justice Alexander Owoeye refused to take Onyedikachukwu’s plea. He stated that the case could not continue until an administrative matter was resolved.

Onyedikachukwu’s lawyers argued that the case was not criminal but rather a contractual dispute. They suggested that the issue should be handled differently instead of treating it as fraud.

Following the judge’s decision, the case has been adjourned to May 14.

This case has drawn significant public attention due to Onyedikachukwu’s past connection with Mercy Chinwo, a well-known gospel singer. Many are now waiting to see how the court will handle the allegations.
