We won’t allow forces hijack LP – Party spokesman

The Labour Party (LP) has firmly stated that it will not allow any group to take control of the party. LP spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, made this clear while rejecting the idea of a merger with other political groups.

His response followed a call from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for the party to consider rebranding, merging, or forming coalitions. The NLC believes these steps will help protect the interests of Nigerian workers and return the party to its original purpose.

In a statement, the NLC warned that the Labour Party should not fall into the hands of those who do not represent workers and ordinary Nigerians. The congress emphasized its commitment to keeping the LP as a platform for fighting for the rights of workers and the underprivileged.

Ifoh reassured party supporters that the LP is open to collaborations that will help strengthen its position in future elections. However, he insisted that the party will not be hijacked by external influences.

As Nigeria moves closer to the next election cycle, the Labour Party aims to maintain its independence while exploring strategic partnerships that align with its core values.
