Legendary rapper Jay-Z has taken legal action against his former accuser and her lawyer, Tony Buzbee. According to court documents obtained on March 3, Jay-Z is suing them for defamation, malicious prosecution, civil conspiracy, and abuse of process.
The lawsuit, filed in Alabama, also names another lawyer, David Fortney, as a defendant. Jay-Z claims that his accuser, referred to as Jane Doe, and her legal team falsely accused him of a crime, leading to a $20 million loss.
In December 2024, Jane Doe appeared in an NBC News interview, where she claimed that Jay-Z assaulted her in 2000 when she was 13 years old. She also made similar accusations against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, which he denied.
Jay-Z has always denied the allegations, and in February 2025, the case against him was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled.
According to Jay-Z’s lawsuit, Jane Doe admitted that Buzbee pushed her to make the false claims. The lawsuit also alleges that Buzbee orchestrated the accusations after an attempt to get money from Jay-Z failed.
Jay-Z’s legal team states that the lawsuit was not about justice but greed and lies.
Tony Buzbee dismissed Jay-Z’s lawsuit, calling it frivolous. He claims that Jay-Z’s investigators have harassed and intimidated Jane Doe, but she refuses to take back her accusations. Buzbee also denies that she admitted to lying.
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, celebrated the dismissal of the original case, stating that Jay-Z never paid any money and fought to clear his name. Now, the rapper is taking action against those who, he claims, tried to ruin his reputation.
This case highlights the ongoing legal battle between celebrities and serious allegations, with both sides standing firm in their claims.
