Brazilian Club, Portuguesa plot bold move for Cristiano Ronaldo

Brazilian club Portuguesa is making ambitious moves in the football world. The club’s president, Alex Bourgeois, has shared his hope of bringing Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Brazil for the 2026 Paulistão.

Portuguesa, a team in the Paulista A1 league, has been working on signing well-known European players. In the past, they attempted to bring in Radamel Falcao and Nani. Now, they have set their sights on an even bigger name—Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking to CNN (via TalkSPORT), Bourgeois explained that signing a major Portuguese player would help strengthen the connection between Brazil and Portugal. He believes this move would restore pride in the Portuguese community in Brazil.

“We are planning for 2026. We want to bring in a great Portuguese player,” he said. “And who is greater than Cristiano Ronaldo? He is the biggest Portuguese footballer in history.”

Bourgeois also shared that Portuguesa’s goal is to create a strong link between Brazil and Portugal, using football as a key connection. He highlighted that many Brazilians already visit Portugal for its culture, food, wine, and beaches.

He hopes that by bringing famous Portuguese players to Brazil, the bond between the two countries will grow even stronger.

At 40 years old, Ronaldo is nearing the end of his contract with Al-Nassr. This means he is now free to negotiate a new deal. However, reports suggest he might stay in the Middle East, as he could receive a massive €183 million per year contract extension.

While Portuguesa’s dream is exciting, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo would consider playing in Brazil. For now, fans can only wait and see what the future holds for the football legend.
