Man shot dead in suspected rivalry cult attack in Ogun

A 34-year-old man, Abdulazeez Olatunji Ojoro, was shot dead in what appears to be a cult-related attack in the Oluwo area of Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The incident happened on Sunday, February 24, 2025, at around 10:10 PM.

According to police investigations, Abdulazeez’s death may be linked to his alleged involvement in illegal drug activities. When officers arrived at the scene, they found him lying in a pool of blood. The attackers, suspected to be members of a rival cult, had already fled before the police got there.

Upon receiving a distress call about a shooting incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adigbe promptly deployed a team of detectives to the scene”, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Omolola Odutola, stated in a press release.

Abdulazeez’s body has been taken to the mortuary, and security patrols have been increased in the area to prevent further violence. The Ogun State Police Command has strongly condemned the attack and reiterated its stance against cultism and drug-related crimes.

A closer examination revealed that he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds on his left eye and right chest, indicating that he was shot at close range,” he said

Authorities have advised cult members to renounce their involvement, emphasizing their commitment to eliminating cult-related violence. They also urged the public to provide any useful information that could help catch those responsible.

The police have assured that investigations are ongoing and will provide further updates as they make progress.
