Edo Govt suspends Attorney-General, LG Commission chair

The Edo State Government has suspended its Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani.

The announcement was made on Thursday morning by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Ikhilor. According to him, the officials were suspended due to serious allegations of financial and official misconduct.

Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the suspension, which takes effect immediately. He also ordered the formation of an Investigative Committee to look into the allegations and provide recommendations based on their findings.

The government stated that the suspension is necessary to allow for a fair and thorough investigation. Until the investigation is completed, both officials will remain suspended.

This action comes less than three months after they were appointed to their positions.
