Man With Ear Piece Crushed To Death By Train In Lagos

A tragic train accident occurred on Friday in Oshodi, Lagos, claiming the life of a middle-aged trader. The incident took place around 2 p.m. near the Arena Shopping Complex and attracted a large crowd of shocked onlookers.

Witnesses reported that the trader was standing on the train tracks while urinating, wearing an earpiece in both ears. Despite the loud horn of the oncoming Lagos-Ibadan train and warnings from nearby passers-by, the man did not hear the train approaching.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased was on a call with three others who were also on the tracks. While his companions noticed the train’s horn and quickly moved to safety, the trader failed to act in time.

The man, identified as a shop owner at the Moyosore shopping complex, was found dead near his locked shop. Bystanders expressed their grief and frustration, blaming the tragedy on his lack of attention. Efforts to notify his family were underway as police were called to evacuate the body.

This unfortunate incident highlights the ongoing dangers of train accidents in Lagos. Areas such as Oshodi, Agege, Ikeja, and Agbado often see traders displaying their goods on rail tracks, risking their lives to make quick sales. Although they attempt to clear the tracks when trains approach, such practices remain hazardous.

A representative from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident but mentioned that the victim’s identity was still being verified. As of the time of this report, the Lagos Police Command had not issued an official statement on the matter.
