President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed eight new permanent secretaries to fill vacant positions in the Federal Civil Service. This decision aims to ensure effective governance and balanced leadership representation across Nigeria’s states and regions.
The announcement, made on Monday, followed a thorough selection process conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that the appointments reflect the President’s commitment to efficient administration.
The newly appointed permanent secretaries are:
- Onwusoro Ihemelandu – Abia State
- Ndiomu Philip – Bayelsa State
- Anuma Nlia – Ebonyi State
- Ogbodo Nnam – Enugu State
- Kalba Usman – Gombe State
- Usman Aminu – Kebbi State
- Oyekunle Nwakuso – Rivers State
- Nadungu Gagare – Kaduna State
This marks the second group of permanent secretaries appointed by President Tinubu. The first batch, announced in June 2023, included appointees from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Jigawa, Ondo, Zamfara, South East, and South-South regions.
President Tinubu urged the new permanent secretaries to bring diligence, innovation, and commitment to their roles. He emphasized that their contributions are crucial for improving governance and achieving national development goals.
The appointments are part of efforts to address administrative gaps and ensure an equitable distribution of leadership across Nigeria.
