The Borno State Police Command has arrested 23 suspects for possessing dangerous weapons, drugs, and other illegal substances during recent operations.
The Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, shared this news in a statement on Monday, December 16, 2024.
According to him, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, around 6 PM, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) carried out a raid in a crime-prone area known as Texaco, located along Baga Road in Maiduguri. During the operation, 19 suspects were arrested. Police recovered:
- 118 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp
- 196 Zola tablets
- A bottle of harmful liquid called “suck and die”
- Several charms
In another operation the same day, the Anti-Vice Patrol team arrested 4 more suspects in Gamboru, Old Maiduguri, and Lamisula. They were found with:
- Two knives
- Two wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
The police stated that the cases are still under investigation. The suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
The Borno State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to maintaining public safety and warned criminals to stop their illegal activities or face legal consequences.
