Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association (FA) after an “adverse finding” appeared in a routine urine test.
The 23-year-old Ukrainian insists he has never knowingly taken any banned substances and described the situation as a “complete shock.”
In a statement, Chelsea Football Club confirmed the FA’s communication regarding Mudryk. The club said:
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test. Mykhailo has categorically stated that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the club will work with the relevant authorities to investigate the result.”
Mudryk also responded, sharing his thoughts publicly:
“This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances. I am working closely with my team to understand how this could have happened. I know I haven’t done anything wrong and hope to be back playing soon.”
Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk for a reported £88.5 million. While the investigation is ongoing, both the club and Mudryk are cooperating fully with the authorities.
For now, the football world awaits further updates on the case.
