President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a significant step to support Nigeria’s armed forces by approving a salary increase for military personnel. Bello Matawalle, the minister of state for defence, shared this news in a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, the ministry’s spokesperson.
In addition to the salary raise, the government has approved the payment of three months’ salary arrears. Alerts for these payments have already started reaching military personnel. This decision is seen as a major boost to morale within the armed forces.
The president also released funds to clear long-standing pensions and entitlements owed to retired military members. According to the minister, resolving these arrears is a top priority.
Matawalle commended Tinubu’s dedication to improving the welfare of military personnel, both active and retired. “Despite earlier challenges, the president is determined to uplift our military forces as they continue to address national security issues,” he said.
This move reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of those who serve and protect the nation.
